Dean Kannemeyer had a final check over his three Sun Met day runners early this morning and declared that the team was all set and ready.
"It's in the laps of the gods now. I am thrilled with the way our runners have come through their preps. Naturally Last Winter is a our big runner in the Sun Met. Losing our regular pilot was a knock we recovered from quickly. I think any trainer on earth would be honoured and fortunate to have Piere Strydom as a 'stand-in'! Last Winter won't have it easy from the 18 draw but we wiill leave that in Piere's hands. He is a top-class colt and while he lacks racing experience, he won't embarass anybody connected with him. Legal Eagle is going to be a tough nut to crack. But we are ready."
Dean added that Mr Winsome was a game and solid stayer and could not be left out when he lines up in the Gr2 Cape Stayers. "His last two runs under top weight were disappointing and while I believe the 2400m is his optimum trip, he won't disgrace himself."
Dynasty's Boy runs in the $500 000 CTS 1200. "There is a lot of money on offer and it makes sense to take our chances. He is a smart gelding but is only having his fourth start and at level weights not well in with some of the top-rated runners. But let's go out there and hope for a bit of luck!"
"I wish you all a wonderful day. If you are here with us on course, I hope to catch up for a cuppa!"' he said.
