Last Winter – a very decent sort!

The Khaya Stables owned Western Winter colt Last Winter grabbed the spotlight at Durbanville on Wednesday when he cruised to an easy victory to retain his unbeaten record from just four career starts.

"He blew me away. He is the real deal," said jockey Anthony Delpech.

Dean Kannemeyer congratulated Khaya Stables and said that Last Winter had the blood and the looks.

"He has got plenty of ability too. I thought he may have needed this but his class carried him through. Let' see how he pulls up and we will take the next step. Good horses qualify themselves for the big races," he added.

He commended breeder Peter de Beyer for producing a class product and thanked Jehan Malherbe of Form Bloodstock for assisting in the selection of the colt.
